Nawake

A temple garden growing food, medicine, and community — one season at a time.

A living garden for the temple, the land, and the tribe.

Remembering the wisdom, gratitude and simplicity of the heart.

The Garden Remembered Itself

Nawake is a jungle garden temple sanctuary in Nayarit, México.

When we first arrived, the garden needed care. The land had been cleared in some places, overgrown in others, and many of the good tools had been stolen.

People helped with what they could. Some gave money. Some gave encouragement. Some gave presence, materials, and care.

The larger funding did not come in.

So we began with what was here.

We sharpened old tools. We replaced handles. We cleared branches. We burned what needed to be returned and fed the gardens with ash. We composted directly into the beds where the soil needed it most.

The shade structure now stands over the gardens. Seeds are thriving. Trees have been mulched. More space has opened. More gardens have been planted.

Food and medicine are already coming from the land.

This is not a garden waiting to begin.

This is a garden already remembering.

Where We Began

The beginning: stolen tools, dry soil, cleared branches, repaired handles, fire, ash, compost, and the first return of care.

What We Did With What We Had

The donations helped us begin.

They helped replace what was stolen, sharpen what remained, and bring simple tools back into use.

But most of this garden was built without big funding.

We used found materials. We reused what was already on the land. We cut, cleared, composted, mulched, planted, watered, and kept going.

The garden became a living lesson in simplicity.

Not because everything was provided.

Because enough was present to begin.

What Is Growing Now

The garden now:

shade standing, seeds thriving, beds fed, trees mulched, water gathered, food and medicine already in use.

What Has Been Completed

Tools Restored
Old tools were sharpened, repaired, and brought back into service.

Land Cleared
Branches were cut, spaces were opened, and the garden was cleared by hand.

Soil Fed
Compost was placed directly into the beds where the soil needed nourishment most.

Ash Returned
Cleared branches were burned, and the ash was returned to the garden as mineral support.

Shade Built
A shade structure now stands over the gardens, protecting the beds and seedlings.

Seeds Planted
More growing space opened, and the seeds are thriving.

Trees Mulched
The trees were mulched to hold moisture, feed the roots, and support the living soil.

Water Found
Large buckets were found and used as a simple water source for the garden.

Food & Medicine Used
The garden is already offering food and medicine for the temple and the community.

What Support Made Possible

$233 was given toward the Nawake garden.

Those gifts mattered.

They helped restore tools, replace what was stolen, prepare the beds, and keep the work moving.

The rest came through simple labor, found materials, recycled resources, and the willingness to begin before everything was ready.

Every contribution went directly into the soil.

💧 Financial support

Any amount helps the garden continue. Monthly support helps the most.

🌱 Seeds & plant starts

Food plants, medicinal plants, and pollinator-friendly flowers.

🪵 Materials & tools

PVC, buckets, mulch, bamboo, recycled panels, and hand tools in good condition

What Still Remains

The main unfinished piece is irrigation piping.

We found large buckets for water support, but simple PVC piping and valves would help keep the garden watered through dry season and make it easier for others to care for the beds after we move from this place.

Support now helps with irrigation, seeds, soil, mulch, tools, and the next place this garden wisdom takes root.

Help the Garden Continue

The hearth is warm because of you.

Every gift supports soil, seeds, water, tools, and the next season of the living garden.
